An excellent free open source ftp client is http://filezilla-project.org/ there are clients for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
Connecting to an FTP server
To connect to an FTP server, enter the address of the server into the host field of the Quickconnect bar (i.e. ftp.yourdomain.com). A username / password are required. If you do not have a username and password the main contact for your account will have this information. If they do not submit a support ticket and a representative will help. Click on Quickconnect or press Enter to connect to the server.
